Light of Life Spiritual Center has a wonderful Youth and Family Ministry and it is growing. Our kids and teens have an incredible opportunity to expand their awareness of God and Universal energies in an atmosphere of love, acceptance and kindness. All philosophies and religions are incorporated as we share our understanding and knowledge of the presence and power of One God. We are all children of this powerful presence and in our Sunday school we explore the many ways that God expresses! Our philosophy is based on the ideas and writings of Ernest Holmes who knew that Universal Wholeness seeks expression through everything. He understood that life is composed of infinite energy and limitless imagination. We help children to utilize this infinite power through the proper use of their own mind and creativity. Each week we spend time presenting and discussing spiritual ideas and creating a variety of crafts. We help them to discover that God’s love and energy are within them and they can tap into this powerful force whenever they choose. We expose our youth to the many aspects of God through stories from the New and Old Testament, the teachings of Buddha, the wisdom of the Ancient Egyptians, the love of nature from the indigenous cultures of the Americas together with modern stories that reflect our own divinity. In addition to this, our kids learn of the seasonal nature of our earth and to honor the cycles of nature. Our Sunday School program is fun and filled with music, laughter and creativity. Our program begins informally at 10 am. At that time the children gather around the table and draw or make beaded creations. At 10:30 we have a sacred circle and share in affirmations and prayer. We follow this with the lesson of the day facilitated by one of our many interesting teachers. The group discusses the ideas presented as they create a craft related to the lesson of the day. We end with another circle and discussion of what was shared and express a sincere gratitude for our time together. There is always an adult and at least one teen assistant present each week. In addition to our Sunday School, we intend to expand our teen program as we have seen over the years how this can make a difference in the lives of our youth. This typically occurs on a Sunday evening where Foundations in Science of Mind principles are taught. Our Youth and Family ministry is a co-creative team, which invites you, parents and children alike to grow in Spirituality together.
